Wollongong is an incubator for
art and culture. Over the centuries now famous
artists have been drawn to the coastal Illawarra
region for inspiration; Norman and Lionel Lindsay,
Roberts, Streeton, Banjo Patterson, Brett Whiteley,
and DH Lawrence to name a few, all of whom are
now part of local history.
